Why Creativity

(You don't have to be "good at art")

"Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun."

Creativity Is a surprisingly direct route

Since our blocks are often emotional rather than logical, it helps to take time to approach them from a "right-brained" side as well. This can actually get to the heart of what's going on faster than just talking alone, even though this path may at first glance seem meandering. In many of our sessions, not only will we "talk through" what's been blocking you, but we will let some creative process (that you choose) inform us as well. This may mean we spend part of our session walking in nature, painting, moving, or any other form that engages the body and emotions.

Creativity is evolutionarily beneficial

Because of our ancestors, "humans are biologically wired to solve social, survival-based problems, while in near constant motion" (APA). This means that even if you feel out of synch with your soul right now, all the hardwiring is already in there for you to overcome any challenge using your body, mind, soul, and community. You're literally built for it. Creativity helps us bring that wiring out of retirement and put it to good use, which in turn actually creates a cascade of health benefits. Expression helps regulate emotions and reduce stress (the number one predictor of inflammation and diseases). Plus your creative time will slow and even reverse cognitive decline.

Creativity Is The natural result of connection

You don't have to be good at art to be creative. And you don't have to feel creative to start creative coaching with me. Creativity is simply seeing or trying things in novel and valuable ways, and that's what I'm here to help guide you towards. Your brain will literally build new neural pathways to different areas that haven't connected before. When you're more connected, you're able to connect more dots in your life. You can see new perspectives and take inspired risks to face challenges and accomplish dreams. Any time we venture into creative territory, it's within the time-tested coaching framework to move you directly toward your biggest vision and goals.
